[Eng] Young Blood ep 36

Translator notes:

  1. Imperial merchants: Despite the name, Imperial merchants were not members of the Imperial clan who were involved in trade, instead they were merchants who either sold important goods such as salt and metal or supplied goods such as tea, cloth, gold, silver, precious stones, jewelry to the Imperial family. They were often large business groups running large enterprises and had a lot of influence in the field(s) they traded in. Because of this, they were often slightly higher in social status than ordinary merchants and received different types of benefits such as the costs will be paid by the Imperial department of service. During the Song dynasty in particular, they had three tasks to do. First represent the government and control the buying and selling of foreign goods, secondly, collect taxes from the foreign merchants, third, monitor the behavior of the foreign merchants so that they will not cause any problems whilst trading within the country. (source from book:萧, 枫., 2011. 外交内方外圆. 沈阳: 辽海出版社. ) However in other ethnic groups, countries they may have members of the Imperial clan engaged in trade for example the Manchurians
  2. Walk: Now the reason why this is in apostrophe marks is because the term Yuan Zhong Xing uses is the “walk” you use when you say you’re walking a dog. There’s no real equivalent of it in english so I just wanted to point it out.
  3. Slapping/abusing another person’s servant: In the past, and perhaps even now, if you slap or abuse somebody else’s subordinates especially in front of them it’s a kind of an insult, it’s just as bad as a slap in the face and it also shows how bad the situation Miqin Mubei is in right now.
