Synopsis: Li Xia, an employee in a startup video game company is trapped inside the new virtual otome game that her company has developed after a few bugs prevents her from leaving the virtual world she was transported into. There, she meets the Emperor and the lead male character of the game who has disguised himself as an eunuch to try and escape from the stifling court affairs. After saving her from drowning twice, she and the Emperor strike up a strange and comedic relationship which slowly blossoms to a sweet touching love story.

Notes:

  1. The right rain will know when to fall…..:This is a line from a famous Tang poem that usually has 2 interpretations, one is that it’s a poem to praise the coming of the spring rain which allows so many crops and plants to flourish and bringing not only food but beauty to the cities. The second is again praising the spring rain but more about how it brings joy to the people but using nature to reflect the feelings of joy.
  2. Death assassin: In dramas and novels there are two types of assassins. There’s the type that you pay to kill someone but may talk about your secrets if they are captured and there are some types that kill themselves as soon as they fail the mission. They are usually are trained for many years by a powerful clan/institution in order to protect their secrets.
  3. Removing the tiger from it’s den: It’s a popular military stratagem which means luring the strongest opponent away from their home/lair so that it’ll be easy to attack it.
  4. Dragon blood source: In Ancient China, the Emperor is often thought of as the Heaven’s son and is the human form of a dragon from Heaven so hence when everyone describes any part of the Emperor they always add the character dragon before it. For example if I literally translate what they say when the eunuchs say please take care of your health/ body, Your Majesty it would be: “Please take care of your dragon body Your Majesty.” I rarely translate it because I don’t have enough room/ doesn’t make sense unless you know the story behind it.Β

    Side note: hmm, I don’t know how I feel about the female general’s character in this drama. I dont know if her character is suppose to be simple in ways thinking or not. or it is the way the actress portray the character, it feels still lacking something. I just feel the way the character is portrayed is childish and whining. The amount of disrespect for the emperor though is too much. I hope they would tone her character down a bit.

    Overall, love this drama asides from the female general at this point. It is still a good drama to watch and quite cute~~

    1. I think that the character of the female general is not well thought out: why would an experienced female general have the maturity of a child? It seems off and this is why the female character is sometimes a bit annoying. It would have been better to simply have her be a temperamental character, who realises her emotions without resulting to simple tactics. Again, a grown and intelligent woman would never behave in this manner.

      Let’s hope they tone down the emotions of the general, so there are fewer scenes with crying and yelling. That said, I like the female general’s friendship with the female lead and her loyalty to her friends. Moreover, I actually like her honesty and unflinching trust in her love-interest. Something that the female lead also admires.

    Also, with this update I found myself drawn to General Older Bro. All of a sudden I’m grinning every time he’s on screen. I really like his character because I feel like the actor really suits the role. I think they did a good job casting him. Either he has a pretty good screen presence, or I’m totally whipped…lol
