Synopsis: Song Yu Die (Zheng Shuang) is a renowned chef in Hangzhou city with a mysterious identity. She grew up learning how to cook from her adopted mother who is also a brilliant chef and the owner of the famous restaurant Tianxiang restaurant. Her sweetheart Li Ma (Ray Ma) is the adopted son of her mother and she knows that they will marry when they grow up. However things change when she encounters Prince Zhao Yuan Qing and Li Ma heads off to the battlefield to build a career for himself. Meanwhile beneath the prosperity, a threat lurks in the background and together with Li Ma, Zhao Yuan Qing she may have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save it…..

Notes:

1. Xingxing wine: Or the wine before the execution. This stems from the chinese folk belief that if you die hungry, you will become a hungry ghost and hence suffer terribly when you become a ghost for that entire year unless someone offers you a food sacrifice. Hence all criminals on the death row in Ancient China are fed a good fulfilling meal and wine before their execution.
2. Heqin marriage: This refers to the ancient chinese practise of Chinese Emperors marrying princesses (usually princesses of a minor branch of the ruling/Imperial clan) to rulers of neighboring states to strengthen political alliances or as a form of appeasement so that the other party was willing to go into a peace deal when they were too powerful on the battlefield. However because this marriage was not often successful hence there were many critics of it.
